IUPAP Young Scientist (Early Career) Prize in Fundamental Metrology

IUPAP Commission C2 – SUNAMCO is pleased to announce the award of IUPAP Young Scientist (Earley Career) Prizes in Fundamental Metrology to Dr. Pierre Cladé and Dr. Ryan Ringle in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the areas of physics within the remit of the Commission.


Pierre Cladé
Laboratoire Kastler Brossel, Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France
For his outstanding contribution to measurement of the fine structure constant.

Ryan Ringle
National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, Michigan State University, East Lancing, MI, USA
For his outstanding contribution to mass measurements of short-lived radioactive isotopes.


The IUPAP Young Scientist (Early Career) Prize in Fundamental Metrology is awarded by the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics through Commission C2 – SUNAMCO to physicists who, on 1 January of the year of the award, have a maximum of 8 years research experience from the start of their professional career (excluding career interruption) and who are judged to have made original and outstanding contributions to the field of fundamental metrology.
Each Prize comprises a medal and an award of €1,000. The Prize will be presented during the Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements (CPEM 2012), Gaylord National Resort, Washington DC, USA, 1–6 July 2012 (http://www.icpem.org/2012/). The Prize-winners have been chosen by the members of Commission C2 from candidates
