19th European Cosmic Ray Symposium

Hall of the Five Hundreds will be held August 30th - September 3rd, 2004 in Florence, Italy.

The opening ceremony will take place the 30th of August at 6:00pm in the Salone dei Cinquecento (Hall of the Five Hundreds) in Palazzo Vecchio.
The conference will be held in Convitto della Calza (Oltrarno Meeting Center) from 31th of August to 3rd of September.

The website is http://www.fi.infn.it/conferenze/ecrs2004/

The topic of the Symposium is cosmic-ray physics in its widest meaning; it includes not only charged particles, but also high energy X-rays and gamma-rays, neutrinos and gravitational waves. A major part of the Symposium time will be dedicated to the discussion of those experimental projects that are of main importance for the European scientific community, focusing the attention on large-scale experiments.

The 19th European Cosmic Ray Symposium is organized by the Istituto Nazionale de Fisica Nucleare and the Università degli Studi di Firenze, Dipartimento di Fisica and is supported by Ente Casse di Risparmio di Firenze.

Chapman Conference on Solar Energetic Plasmas and Particles

will be held in Turku, Finland from 2-6 August 2004. The conference objectives are to bring together solar, interplanetary, and heliospheric communities involved in the study of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and solar energetic particles (SEPs) and to enable better communication amongst these communities of scientists for a deeper understanding of the connection between SEPs and CMEs.

International Conference on Cosmic Rays and Magnetic Fields in Large Scale Structure
(3rd Korean Astrophysics Workshop)

The International Conference on Cosmic Rays and Magnetic Fields in Large Scale Structure(3rd Korean Astrophysics Workshop) will be held August 16-20, 2004 at the Pusan National University, Busan, Korea
If you wish to receive future announcements, please pre-register at their website: http://canopus.chungnam.ac.kr/kaw3/

Scientific rationale:
Observations in radio and high energy bands have revealed the existence of nonthermal components, cosmic rays and magnetic fields, in large scale structure of the Universe, and the importance of nonthermal processes has been demonstrated in the studies of relatively nearby clusters. In our efforts to understand these observational signatures, this Conference will review recent progresses in studies of the origin and roles of the nonthermal components in LSS.

Topics:
- Production and distribution of cosmic rays in LSS
- Generation, evolution and distribution of magnetic fields in LSS
- Role of nonthermal components in LSS
- Observational manifestation of nonthermal processes in LSS
- Simulations of MHD and cosmic ray processes in LSS
- Radio galaxies and AGNs in LSS
- Particle accelerations in LSS

The 29th INTERNATIONAL COSMIC RAY CONFERENCE

Indian Painting The 29th International Cosmic Ray Conference will be held in Pune, India from August 3 to 10, 2005. It is organized by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, Pune, and the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Pune.

The city of Pune is the cultural capital of the state of Maharashtra in India and is located about 150 km south-east of Mumbai. Shielded from the vigour of the Indian monsoon coming from the Arabian sea, which deposits nearly 200 cm of rain over Mumbai during June-August, by the 700-1000 m high hill range, Pune will offer a very pleasant environment for the conference. The travel time by road from the international airport at Mumbai and Pune is less than 3 hours. The world heritage sites of Ajanta caves and Ellora temple are only 250 km from Pune. The details about the conference and the organization are available at the website, http://www.tifr.res.in/icrc2005 and the secretariat can be contacted at icrc2005@tifr.res.in.

The 30th INTERNATIONAL COSMIC RAY CONFERENCE

will be held in México in late August 2007. There are still two candidate cities: Oaxaca in SW México and Mérida, on the Yucatan peninsula. For more information about the 30 th ICRC, please contact Dr. Jose Valdes-Calicia at jfvaldes@tonatiuh.igeofcu.unam.mx.
