The topic of the Symposium is cosmic-ray physics in its widest meaning; it includes not only charged particles, but also high energy X-rays and gamma-rays, neutrinos and gravitational waves. A major part of the Symposium time will be dedicated to the discussion of those experimental projects that are of main importance for the European scientific community, focusing the attention on large-scale experiments.
The 19th European Cosmic Ray Symposium is organized by the Istituto Nazionale de Fisica Nucleare and the Università degli Studi di Firenze, Dipartimento di Fisica and is supported by Ente Casse di Risparmio di Firenze.

Scientific rationale:
Observations in radio and high energy bands have revealed
the existence of nonthermal components, cosmic rays and magnetic
fields, in large scale structure of the Universe, and the importance
of nonthermal processes has been demonstrated in the studies of
relatively nearby clusters. In our efforts to understand these
observational signatures, this Conference will review recent
progresses in studies of the origin and roles of the nonthermal
components in LSS.

The city of Pune is the cultural capital of the state of
Maharashtra in India and is located about 150 km south-east of Mumbai.
Shielded from the vigour of the Indian monsoon coming from the
Arabian sea, which deposits nearly 200 cm of rain over Mumbai during
June-August, by the 700-1000 m high hill range, Pune will offer
a very pleasant environment for the conference. The travel time by
road from the international airport at Mumbai and Pune is less than
3 hours. The world heritage sites of Ajanta caves and Ellora temple
